There was plenty of music during the Elmore Stoutt High School’s Christmas Concert, but there was also a playful feud over Virgin Islands tarts.

“Can I hear it for pineapple tart?” concert host Dylan Penn asked the crowd as the Jazz Band prepared to take the stage.

Only a few attendees cheered, and pineapple was later dramatically outvoted in favour of coconut.

But the audience reserved the loudest cheers for the students who took the stage to perform popular Christmas music.

Though the crowd was smaller than usual – a fact Music Department Head Margie Webb-Headley attributed to competing events on Saturday – the show was a success, she said.

“I think it was a good evening,” Ms. Webb-Headley said, adding, “There is always room for improvement.”
