A Huntums Ghut man was arrested and charged following the shooting of a female police officer at U.P.’s Cineplex shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

Denston Johnney, 30, faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, and unlawful possession of explosives, according to the Police Information Office.

As of Monday, he was in custody pending his appearance at the Magistrates’ Court.

The victim sustained injuries and was transported to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment, police said Sunday.

They have not provided an update on her condition or other information about the incident.
