Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Service Officer Shaquoi Smith, 24, died Friday after succumbing to injuries sustained during an April 18 scooter wreck at Hope Hill, Police Information Officer Akia Thomas said Monday via WhatsApp.
Ms. Thomas added that Mr. Smith was found on the side of the road on the morning of April 18 and taken to the Dr. Orlando Smith Hospital, where he died four days later.
“No updated information can be released at this time,” Ms. Smith said.
During a Friday press conference, Premier Andrew Fahie acknowledged Mr. Smith’s death while offering condolences to other families who have lost loved ones in recent weeks.
“May their souls rest in peace,” Mr. Fahie said.
