As the saying goes, “Prevention is better than cure.”

Residents came to the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Saturday to take advantage of the free medical testing that was provided by the Rotary Club of Road Town.

Pap smears, blood glucose tests, and breast examinations were among the services offered.

At the BVI Nursing Association table, Helen Frett checked participants’ blood pressure. “It has been going slow, but we have had a steady flow of people,” Ms. Frett said.

Nearby, at the National AIDS Programme booth, Sheldon Harry was distributing condoms and speaking to participants about safe sex. During the fair, AIDS tests were not carried out because of privacy concerns, but residents can get tested for free at the NAP office behind Banco Popular, Mr. Harry said.
