Payments to public officers that were due on Sept. 30 have been delayed to Oct. 9 because of “technical challenges,” government announced Monday on its Facebook page.

No further details were provided, but a separate notice on the page advised that effective Monday, Oct. 2, timesheets are mandatory for the processing of government payroll.

“Public officers are required to complete and submit weekly timesheets to their respective department head for hours worked,” the notice stated.

Department heads will then submit timesheets to the Compensation and Benefits Unit of the Department of Human Resources to process payroll from Oct. 15 and each pay period thereafter, according to government.

Timesheets can be collected at the front desk of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour on the second floor of the East Wing of the Central Administration Building.

Timesheets will also be distributed on the sister islands and are available online at www.bvi.gov.vg/services/employee-timesheets.

Public officers are required to comply with the new requirement in order “to promote accountability and to validate the payment of salaries,” according to the notice.
