bins in “strategically placed” areas of Road Town that tend to generate high volumes of trash, according to Government Information Services.

DWM Manager Greg Massicote said the three-compartment bins will be used for a pilot recycling programme that is part of a larger waste management strategy.

The bins will be clearly marked to collect glass, aluminium cans and other trash, according to Government Information Services.

“We are asking the public to cooperate with this initiative and not to abuse the bins by using them as ladders, chairs or by removing them from their locations,” Mr. Massicote said.

New litterbins also were recently installed in areas of Road Town that typically don’t generate large volumes of waste.

“The department is seeking to streamline its litterbins as part of our overall efforts to implement greener waste management solutions,” Mr. Massicote said. “These new litterbins are more visually appealing and are more efficient as they require smaller plastic bags than the older bins.”
