Premier Dr. Orlando Smith announced on Friday that government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the administrative commission of the Binhai New Area, which is a special economic zone located within the jurisdiction of Tianjin, China.

Details on the agreement are scant, but Dr. Smith said the agreement sets development goals in the areas of financial services, technology, media, communications, infrastructure, real property, alternative energy, and others.

“China has long been our development partner in this region. A new relationship with Tianjin further solidifies that relationship,” said the premier.
