Effective April 1, government’s Human Resources Department “officially implemented” role profiles as recommended by the consultant KPMG as part of the 2012 Job Analysis Project, government announced Monday.

“The transition from job descriptions was necessary to update, standardise and clarify roles across the public service,” acting Human Resources Director Michelle Donovan-Stevens said in a press release.

The Job Analysis Project streamlined 1,206 job descriptions into 563 role profiles, which are more detailed, according to the HR Department’s 2012 annual report, which was tabled in the House of Assembly last month.

“The Department of Human Resources expects that the role profiles will not solely be used to guide the performance of public officers, but they will also serve a greater purpose of informing critical internal processes,” Ms. Donovan-Stevens said, later adding that the profiles will also help with organisational planning and with assessing job performance.
