An early morning traffic dispute on Virgin Gorda Sunday led to a brawl and the drawing of a revolver, Crown Counsel Valston Graham said in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

David Turnbull, a 19-year-old resident of Purcell Estate, allegedly left a party at the Dockside Restaurant on VG at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Mr. Graham said. While he was leaving, he blocked another man’s car in with his own vehicle, the prosecutor said.

Words were exchanged, Mr. Graham said, and Mr. Turnbull pulled a gun from his pocket.

“A fight ensued” before a police officer intervened, according to the prosecutor. The defendant allegedly fled toward the Rock Café, and two officers gave chase, Mr. Graham said. The officers caught Mr. Turnbull and took the gun from his pocket, when he again attempted to flee, he added.

“He ran himself into a garbage can,” Mr. Graham said, “which might account for the bandage on his forehead.”
