Shortly after 10 a.m. Friday morning, four masked people carrying what appeared to be assault rifles robbed Aladdin Store on Flemming Street in Road Town, according to police and a video of the incident that was circulated widely on social media.

A detective at the scene said shortly after 11 a.m. that the perpetrators were still at large after leaving the jewellery and perfume store.

He said there were no reports of injuries and it was unclear if anything had been stolen.

Shortly thereafter, apparent gunshots rang out nearby.

The video circulating on social media showed a masked person armed with an apparent assault rifle standing outside the front of the store, looking up and down the street.

After several moments, three other masked people ran outside the building, at least two of them holding what appeared to be assault rifles.

All four men ran up Flemming Street in the direction of Main Street.
