Police received a report of gunshots in the West End area on Friday, according to Police Information Officer Akia Thomas.
Though police didn’t issue a public statement at the time, Ms. Thomas confirmed the shooting — which was reported online the day it happened — in a Monday email in response to a query from the Beacon.
“We got reports of an alleged shooting, but after officers responded, there was only evidence to support shots fired and no ‘shooting,’ per se,” Ms. Thomas wrote. “Therefore, no general statement was issued.”
She then provided a short statement about the incident, noting that responding officers “conducted thorough investigations.”
“It was revealed that shots were fired, but no one was injured,” she added. “Investigations are ongoing in this matter.”
