The response to last week’s Funtestic Friday Health and Wellness Expo on Virgin Gorda was so strong that officials plan to return again this week.

All told, 64 people were tested for HIV during the event — a record, according to National AIDS Programme Coordinator Noelene Levons-Clarke.

“The Virgin Gorda community really came out this year, which means that the event was well promoted and persons are now more aware and sensitised on the importance of having an HIV test done,” Ms. Levons-Clarke said. “The demand actually became more obvious when we ran out of test kits and more persons, especially construction workers, were still coming.”

To ensure that demand is met, the NAP will return to VG from noon to 6 p.m. Friday.

The event was held in observance of Regional HIV Testing Day.

A similar Health and Wellness Expo will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 27 at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Tortola.

The event will feature various screenings, massages, and health food.
