Two hundred and twenty-eight students were honoured during H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s graduation ceremony on Thursday.

They included valedictorian Lvella Titley, who earned a 4.0 grade point average; six mother-daughter pairs; and five sets of siblings, including one pair of twins, HLSCC Vice President Dr. Anne Monroe said in a speech at the ceremony.

Dr. Charles Wheatley, chairman of the college’s board of directors, was one of several officials who congratulated the graduates and offered words of advice for the future.

“Be strong, be resilient, be loving, be kind, be prayerful, and seek God’s guidance in all that you do,” Dr. Wheatley said.

Delores Bagot and her daughter Mikhala both graduated with associate degrees in hotel management and food and beverage.

“We studied together,” the daughter said. “We competed with each other to see who would get the highest GPA.”
