A one-year management course coming next month to H. Lavity Stoutt Community College is designed for supervisors who lead teams, but it is also accessible to less-experienced students pursuing further education abroad, according to the college.
Applications are now open for the Chartered Management Institute Level Three Diploma in Principles of Management and Leadership.
The course offers an internationally recognised certification equivalent to an associate degree or A Level, according to HLSCC.
“The CMI Level Three Diploma provides a unique pathway for learners interested in [United Kingdom] studies, as it bypasses the need for a foundation year, saving time and additional costs,” the college stated. “It also offers advanced placement for those enrolling in [United States]-based schools.”
Hands-on approach
Marva Wheatley, dean of the Workforce Training Division at HLSCC, said the programme takes a hands-on approach.
“The training is application-based, where learners write about work-related experiences and are paired with an advisor who provides support throughout the process, making the experience rewarding and enriching,” she explained.
The CMI programme is open to anyone with a high school diploma or equivalent, and for established workers it offers an opportunity to gain an internationally recognised diploma in one year, according to HLSCC.
Classes are held every six weeks for presentations in a flexible format that can accommodate learners from across the region through virtual learning, the college stated.
Programme history
HLSCC has been an approved CMI provider since 2005, offering certifications in management and leadership at levels Three, Five and Seven.
“The programme has seen great success, including an 84 percent pass rate for first assignments in the 2024 annual audit,” the college stated.
Applications are open until Oct. 4, and classes are scheduled to start on Oct. 31.
