The Virgin Gorda leg of the 16th H. Lavity Stoutt Community College/Highland Spring Two-Mile Race Series got under way on Saturday with more than 30 participants running or walking through The Valley on Virgin Gorda.
Zebalon McLean would outsprint Emrol Amerstdam for the win in the Men’s Division with a time of 11 minutes and 13.63 seconds.
Laurel Harrigan was the first female finisher, in 18 minutes and 19.28 seconds.
“It was a great start, being one of the larger first races in Virgin Gorda,” said Race Director Stephanie Russ Penn.
The second VG race is scheduled for Oct. 8, while the series returns to Tortola on Saturday.
