It may take the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College two years or more, but the institution will not stop until it is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, according to HLSCC President Dr. Karl Dawson.

The accreditation will make it easier for students to transfer to other schools abroad, Dr. Dawson explained during a press conference on Thursday at the college.

The accreditation process itself, he added, is also helping the institution improve the services it offers to the community.

During the coming semester, a team of HLSCC representatives will be sent to the United States to participate in training that will prepare the institution for the self-assessment required for accreditation.

Meanwhile, teams from the accreditation body will continue to visit the institution until the process is completed, according to Dr. Dawson.
