A father was taken into police custody after his 11-month-old daughter was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. Monday outside the Ritter House on Wickhams Cay II, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.
Police officers and Peebles Hospital personnel were called to the scene, where they found the infant unresponsive, Ms. Drayton said.
The father was also at the scene at the time.
The infant’s exact cause of death has still not been determined. Investigations are ongoing.
