Police have charged Shakoy Lavacia, an inmate at Her Majesty’s Prison, with attempted murder in relation to an April 1 stabbing incident at the correctional facility, confirmed Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.

The victim, a male inmate, was taken to Peebles Hospital for treatment following the attack, according to previous police reports.

He has since been discharged from the hospital and is back at the prison, Ms. Drayton previously stated.

Additional details about the incident were not provided by police.

David Foot, the superintendent at HMP, did not respond to requests for further information.
