With holidays Friday and Monday, there’s more to do than usual in the territory over the next few days.

Virgin Gorda Easter Festival

The Virgin Gorda Easter Festival begins on Saturday with the Food Fair and Fungi Fest in Spanish Town. Activities will continue throughout the holiday weekend, culminating on Monday with an afternoon parade followed by entertainment in the Ralph T. O’Neal Festiville.

 

Thursday

Spring Regatta: The Mount Gay Rum Welcome Party takes place at Nanny Cay from 4-7 p.m. as the BVI Spring Regatta gets under way. Throughout the weekend, there will be parties and other entertainment at the Regatta Village. Tonight Final Faze will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight.

 

Friday

Good Friday: It’s a public holiday, and many churches around the territory will hold church services commemorating the crucifixion of Christ.

Spring Regatta: Shooting Star Steel Pan Band will perform at the Regatta Village at Nanny Cay from 4-6 p.m. At 8 p.m., Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats are scheduled to take the stage.

Bridge players: Bridge players are wanted on Tuesdays and Fridays at Nanny Cay from 9 a.m. Call 494-2108 or 340-4840.

Quiz night: It’s Quiz Night at the Tamarind Club in Josiahs Bay from 7 p.m.

 

Saturday

VG Easter Festival: The Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Committee will host a food fair today at the Spanish Town Market Square from 10 a.m. There will be fungi music by the Razor Bladez, and music from South Mix Band. The festival’s official opening ceremony kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Ralph T. O’Neal Festiville. Jamaican reggae singer Tarrus Riley is scheduled to perform, as are Leon and the Hot Shots, Final Faze Band and Showtime Band.

Spring Regatta: There will be a fashion show at the poolside at 5:30 p.m. at Nanny Cay. Later in the night Quito and the Edge is scheduled to perform.

Walk: The Saturday Morning Walkers meet at 5:15 a.m. each week. Today they will leave the Beef Island bridge and walk to the prison via the East End Police Station, Little Dix Hill and Lambert before returning to their starting point. For more details go to the Facebook page “We Walk.”

Exercise: Mitch Gordon of Body Images BVI offers free aerobics classes at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds every Saturday at 5:30 a.m.

 

Sunday

VG Easter Festival: A wet fete will be held from around 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Bay on Virgin Gorda. There will be several water sports activities and performances by NJAR, B’More, Tino, Vibe and others. Tonight several performers will compete for the title of VG Easter Festival Calypso Monarch. The competition, which will be hosted by John B, is to start at 8 p.m. at the Ralph T. O’Neal Festiville.

Spring Regatta: An Easter Sunrise Service will be held at Nanny Cay at 6:30 a.m. At around 11 a.m., there will be an Easter egg hunt. At 8 p.m. Chef Al and the Hot Sauce Band will perform at the Spring Regatta Awards Ceremony.

 

Monday

VG Easter Festival: The Rise and Shine Tramp will start at around 4 a.m. in Spanish Town and proceed to the Ralph T. O’Neal Festiville. Stylee Band from the United States Virgin Islands will lead revellers through the tramp route. Later in the day, the VG Easter Monday Parade will start around noon in Spanish Town and proceed to the Ralph T. O’Neal Festiville, where the festival will wrap up with music and other entertainment.

Kites: New Vybz Entertainment and the Guyanese Association will host an Easter Monday Kite Flying event today at Fantasea in Duffs Bottom from 11 a.m.

Zumba: Mu Zumba hosts Zumba classes at Prospect Reef on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and on Saturdays at 9 a.m. Call Musonda Poole at 541-0715.

Happy hour: Foxy’s in Jost Van Dyke has happy hour every day from 4-6 p.m., with specials on drinks.

 

Wednesday

Quiz: Tonight is Quiz Night at Bamboushay Lounge from 7 p.m.
