Police regained custody of escaped prisoner Khori Prince on Jan. 30 after an operation at a residence in Greenland, according to a press release.

Mr. Prince originally escaped custody while waiting for his appearance at Magistrates’ Court on Jan. 18, police said, though they did not provide further details about the incident. Before his escape, he had been charged with burglary in relation to a break-in at Mi Amor Jewellers on Main Street in late December.

Police said he will now face additional charges in relation to the escape.

“I am proud of the investigative work of my officers in making the initial arrest and the subsequent recapture,” Police Commissioner Michael Matthews said. “We don’t always get it right, but when we do we do it well. The officers teamed up and ultimately brought about a desirable end.”

Mr. Prince was set to appear in court at its next available sitting.
