We are informed of a record number of cruise ship passengers for 2023. But are the numbers correct? Quoting the total capacity of a ship sounds great. But does it represent the actual number of passengers on the day? Does it include crew? Which figure is being used? We need more information.

Also, exactly how much revenue is generated by the actual head tax ($15 a head?)? Is there revenue besides the head tax? How many ship calls were there? How much does it cost government to service the ships, taking into account pilotage, docking, supplies, servicing, garbage and promotional activities?

Politicians love to flash headlines, accurate or not.
