A long-time inmate at His Majesty’s Prison has become the third man charged with murdering Kemo Lettsome, who was shot to death during a family gathering in Long Look on April 30, 2023, police announced Tuesday.
Andraes Norford was charged Monday by officers from the Major Incident Team, joining Vernon Bernard and Jelani Marquis, who were charged with the crime on April 24, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing, police said, but they did not provide further information.
Shooting
Mr. Lettsome was 37 when he was fatally shot during a family gathering at a residence near The Stickett, and he died at the scene, officials have said previously.
“Initial inquiries indicate that the shooter drove by the residence in a vehicle around 6:30 p.m., discharged several bullets, and left in the same vehicle,” according to a joint statement issued at the time by then-Governor John Rankin and Premier Dr. Natalio “Sowande” Wheatley.
“Much more information is needed to help with investigations into this incident.”
Crime Stoppers
In a Tuesday press release announcing the charge against Mr. Norford, acting Police Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool commended the officers involved in the investigation.
She also urged the public to provide information on the killing by calling the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS) or by contacting the police Intelligence Department directly at 368-9339.
“All information will be treated as confidential,” police stated.
