Lawmakers are scheduled to resume a House of Assembly sitting on Thursday with an agenda that includes debates on updating wedding tourism restrictions and a new law regulating limited partnerships.

The Limited Partnership Act, 2017 is designed to overhaul the Partnership Act, 1996 and allow the territory to market LPs as an international investment vehicle.

The Marriage (Amendment) Act, 2017 would update numerous marriage regulations, including a stipulation that would allow for weddings at sea.

It would also allow for same-day marriage licences in the territory, making it easier for cruise ship passengers to wed. Government officials have touted it as a necessary step towards promoting wedding tourism.

Lawmakers are scheduled to give second and third readings to both bills, as well as debating and voting on them. The sitting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
