A Free Bottom resident accused of cussing and shouting at police while they were attempting to question him appeared at the Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face charges of disorderly conduct and indecent language.

Olis John, who did not have a defence attorney, pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Crown Counsel Annjel Flax-Solomon alleged that the defendant offered a woman who was baby-sitting in Free Bottom $200 in exchange for sex on April 17, 2016 and then tried to force his way inside the residence.

The virtual complainant contacted police, who responded to the scene, the prosecutor said.

Mr. John told police the woman was lying, and he repeatedly cussed at the officers even after he was warned to stop, Ms. Flax-Solomon said.

Officers arrested the defendant and took him to the Road Town Police Station, where he shouted loudly and behaved in a disruptive fashion, according to the Crown.

Mr. John was later charged with disorderly conduct and indecent language.

His trial will be held later this year.
