Erick Rabsatt, 19, of Purcell Estate, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and attempting to pervert the course of justice in connection to the Oct. 23, 2019 wreck at Duffs Bottom that killed 20-year-old Ryan Adams, police stated in a Tuesday press release.

Mr. Rabsatt, who was 17 at the time, was driving a Freightliner truck that collided with Mr. Adams’ scooter in the evening, according to police.

Mr. Adams was then taken to the hospital, where he died early the following morning, according to police.

“The director of public prosecutions returned their advice yesterday on the file submitted by the Road Policing Unit in January 2020 following a thorough investigation in the collision,” the press release stated.

“Other charges laid against Rabsatt, such as driving without a driver’s licence and driving when not covered by insurance, passed the [statute] of limitations and therefore were dropped.”

Mr. Rabsatt will appear at Magistrates’ Court at the next available sitting, police stated.
