Following a “targeted operation” into a suspected unlicensed gun in Threlfall on Friday, three males were arrested and one was subsequently charged, police said Monday.
George Ollivierre Jr., 32, was charged with possession of a prohibited firearm in connection with a nine-millimetre pistol and two counts of unlawful possession of explosives for being found with 35 rounds of 0.45-calibre ammunition and one round of nine-millimetre ammunition, according to police.
As of Monday, he remained in police custody awaiting his appearance before the Magistrates’ Court, police said.
The other two detainees were discharged, according to police.
“The public is reminded that possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition is a serious offence, and law enforcement will take all necessary actions to ensure the safety of the community,” said acting Police Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool.
