In the fourth murder police have reported this year, a man was gunned down shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday in the Purcell Estate area, according to the Police Information Office.
“The male victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” police said in a short statement released yesterday afternoon. “Officers are actively pursuing all lines of enquiry.”
Police did not name the deceased, describe any suspects or provide any other information about the incident.
“Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses,” the statement noted.
Police appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist investigators to call their Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS).
“All information shared will be treated with the utmost confidence,” the statement added.
