An airport fire officer was shot to death at around 11 p.m. Friday in the Greenland area, police said.
Eric Alezis Albert, 28, of Greenland, was employed at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, according to a short press release police issued Monday.
As of Beacon press time, police had not provided any other information about the shooting, and they did not respond to questions about its exact location, the circumstances of Mr. Albert’s death, possible suspects, any arrests or the police response.
They did say that their investigation is active, however, and they asked the public for assistance.
Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to contact the police Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS).
“No further details are available at this time,” police said in the Monday press release. “Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
2025 shooting deaths
The killing is the third shooting death police have reported this year.
On Jan. 15, 20-year-old Quentinn Noel was shot to death shortly before 2 a.m. near his Purcell Estate residence amid a series of violent incidents across Tortola over 24 hours, police said at the time.
Then, on May 10, 32-year-old Nyron Erickson was gunned down while riding a scooter in the West End area, police said at the time.
No arrests have been announced in connection with either killing, though police said they were seeking a 48-year-old Trinidadian named John “Small Brent” Emmanuel for questioning in Mr. Erickson’s death.
