Calypso music blared from loudspeakers as vendors sold mangos and other local produce under tents during the second annual Mango Array and Tropical Fruits Festival at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Friday.

At one of the tables, there was a display of fruits and pastry, including tarts, pies and other foods made from mango. Linette Rabsatt, marketing and extension officer at the Department of Agriculture, was labeling the products.

Several participants had brought the goods to be entered for a competition, she explained. The categories included biggest mango, smallest mango, tarts, bread and others.

“The competition is looking good,” Ms. Rabsatt said, as she looked at the samples and wrote down the names of the entrants on a sheet of paper.

Nearby, Erminie Macthavious sold drinks, liqueurs and popsicles. “The juices have been doing well,” the vendor said, adding that they were made with locally grown fruits.
