A body recovered Saturday morning from the ocean near the Pockwood Pond area was identified as missing boater Deshaun Bryan, police said.

Mr. Bryan was one of two men on a 24-foot speedboat who allegedly jumped into the sea in the Sir Francis Drake Channel when the boat overturned on the afternoon of July 18, according to the Police Information Office.

The other man, who police did not identify, was rescued, treated for minor injuries and discharged from the hospital, police said.

Officers of the police Marine Branch and the volunteer organisation Virgin Islands Search and Rescue had been searching for Mr. Bryan since shortly after the boat overturned.

The cause of the incident is under investigation, police said.
