The Department of Disaster Management is planning to test its capability to respond to a cruise ship in distress during a simulation between 6 a.m. and noon on Friday.

“Operation Tropic Hit” is designed to evaluate recently drafted procedures for managing cruise disasters, according to the department.

The exercise will also test the territory’s “emergency response and inter-agency communication in response to the disaster scenario,” a DDM press release stated.

The department is advising the public that there is no need to respond to the simulation.

However, it welcomes feedback and comments: Residents can respond by completing a survey that will be posted after the exercise at www.bviddm.com, the press release stated.
