Celebrations of the National Parks Trust’s 50th anniversary, which began on Sunday with the trust’s annual flower show, are to continue through the weekend, culminating with a performance by John Legend in Queen Elizabeth II Park on Sunday.

On Thursday, a variety of cultural activities are scheduled during the day in the park, followed by jazz and R&B performances by Virgin Islands musicians in the evening.

On Friday, the territory will celebrate Arbour Day in the park, with tree planting by primary school students during the morning, a fish fry scheduled from noon to 8 p.m., and reggae and calypso performances during the evening.

Saturday will feature performances by Ali Campbell, the former lead singer of UB40, along with Arturo O’Farrill, the Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble, and Tortola’s own Quito and the Edge, all in the same Road Town park.

And on Sunday, John Legend, the Spectrum Band, and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College Jazz Band are each scheduled to entertain at the venue.
