Governor Boyd McCleary has approved the appointment of Ronald Smith-Berkeley as the new permanent secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour.

Mr. Smith-Berkeley, whose appointment took effect yesterday, joined the faculty of H. Lavity Stoutt Community College as an instructor in 2009, according to Government Information Services.

Prior to that, he spent about five years as the ministry’s human resources manager. He also has almost 20 years of experience in management and sales positions at Road Town Wholesale Trading, Ltd.

Mr. Smith-Berkeley earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing and a Master of Science in economics from the Alabama A&M University in 1995 and 1997, respectively.
