The University of the Virgin Islands and H. Lavity Stoutt Community College will be working more closely together under a memorandum of understanding between the two schools signed during an Inter-Virgin Islands Council meeting Thursday at Maria’s by the Sea.

The signing, which will foster collaboration between the schools’ faculties and a smoother transition for students wishing to transfer from HLSCC to UVI, was just one of the matters of mutual concern on the agenda for the morning meeting.

Other discussion topics included law enforcement, tourism, boating and culture, said Premier Dr. Orlando Smith at an opening ceremony, where he also urged USVI Governor John DeJongh Jr. to “inculcate” his successor with the importance of the council and the United States territory’s relationship to the VI.
