Criminal Investigations Unit officers are investigating a report of an armed robbery of a One Mart Superstore security guard on Saturday morning, according to Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.

Initial inquiries indicate that the guard was making an after-hours deposit at First Caribbean International Bank early Saturday morning when a male with a black jacket wrapped around his face and back approached him from a nearby alley and pointed a handgun at him, Ms. Drayton said.

The assailant took the guard’s bag, which reportedly contained cash, and fled towards the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park, she said, adding that no injuries resulted from the incident.

The assailant is described as dark in complexion and between 4 feet 8 inches and 5 feet tall with a slim build.

Police are asking for information that might help identify the perpetrator. Information can be provided by calling the police access number 311, the Intelligence Unit at 468-9339, or the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline in Miami at 800-8477.
