As part of the Virgin Islands’ annual celebration of the public service,  officials took time out of their schedules to show the public what government does.

As part of Public Service Week, many ministries and departments opened their doors to community members, offering tours and presentations.

Dozens of balloons adorned the Central Administration Building offices of the Land Registry to greet visitors. Upstairs, employees of the Premier’s Office put on a cruise-ship-themed display with informational posters about ongoing capital projects.

According to Aisha Hill, an information officer in the Deputy Governor’s Office, public officers from the four “teams” formed for Public Service Week — the Supersonics, the Eagles, the Warriors and the Panthers — hosted open houses, though not every ministry and department was represented.

The Governor’s Office got into the act as well, hosting an open house for students and other visitors Friday.
