Car parts and other items are being stolen from vehicles and vessels awaiting repairs, police warned on Monday.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has received reports about items being taken from cars and boats that have been left on roadsides or in parking lots, according to a press release.
Some of the vehicles were reportedly unsecured, with missing windows or windscreens.
Along with reports of missing side mirrors, batteries, grills, radio systems and unlocked spare tyres, one victim reported that an envelope of cash had been stolen from their glove compartment, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton said.
Mr. Drayton added that “evidence indicates” the culprits “are using the cover of night” to steal these items.
Vehicle owners should remove all valuables or items susceptible to theft from cars that are left overnight, especially in vulnerable places, she said.
Anyone with information about the identity of the perpetrators of these thefts is asked to call police at 311.
