Virgin Islands swimmer Elinah Phillip left her mark in the record books on Sunday at the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Swimming Championships at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre in St. Lucia.

She brought home gold in the 100-metre butterfly, 50-metre freestyle and and bronze in the 400-metres in the women’s 13-14 division.

Her sister Amarah took silver in the 100-metre butterfly and 50-metre freestyle in the women’s 15-17 division.

Elinah’s OECS records came in the 200 individual medley in 2:33.20;” the 50-metre butterfly in 29.75 seconds; and the 100-metre free in 59.83 seconds.

St. Lucia won the meet after beating the defending champion Grenada by 83 points.

The VI finished in fifth place and was the only nation not to field a full team.

All told, the VI took home 15 medals, including six gold medals.
