The 2018 August Emancipation Festival may be over now, but below are some of the Beacon‘s best photos from the festivities to help you relive it.

Although this year’s Festival budget was slashed in half – from $700,000 to $350,000 – and some popular events were truncated or cancelled, organisers said the celebrations have never been more important.

“Locals and visitors alike look forward to our Festival,” said Trefor Grant, chairman of the VI Festivals and Fairs Committee. “It’s more than just a jump-up. It’s a time when we can get together and celebrate being free. It’s this time where [bonds between] family and friends are reignited and we can be thankful, joyous and festive all at once.”
