Before his trip to the Virgin Islands eight years ago, Jeff Block knew nothing about sailing.

“I just had some interest in traveling and I came along [on a friend’s bareboat yacht charter],” he said. “I was seasick half the trip. We did the St. Croix passage but I thought, ‘You know I kind of like this.’”

The civil engineer, a resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, kept making sailing his annual vacation, with trips to Antigua, Grenada and several return visits to the VI. Often, he invited non-sailing friends to join him for a week.

“I’ve shared this experience with probably 20 people,” he said.

He and his business partner, Alan Brown, executive producers of the proposed reality television show Mutiny: BVI, may be about to share the sailing experience with a lot more people.
