Friday marked the one-year anniversary of the murder of Melbourne Francis, and the killer is still at large, said Detective Superintendent Alexis Charles.

Police are offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of a lone gunman who was seen the night of May 9, 2013 at the Stickett in East End, according to Police Information Officer Diane Drayton, who added that smaller rewards are available for other information that assists in the investigation.

Mr. Charles said the investigation continues, but more help is needed from the public.

“Progress has been made in the investigation, and there is a determination by investigating officers to progress it even further. But the need for more information is critical,” he said. “This was a cold, calculated killing and the person who did it is still living among us.”

The superintendent explained that not only money, but also witness protection is available for anyone willing to come forward.

Ms. Drayton said detectives suspect that community members may have important information that could advance the case.
