Police renewed calls last week for the public’s assistance in identifying the perpetrators in the 2011 murder of Cardinal Roberto Fahie and the 2017 murder of Jefferson Mark Joseph, according to two police press releases.

Mr. Fahie was killed on May 26, 2011, after masked gunmen entered his Rogues Bay residence, tied up his wife, demanded money from him, and then kidnapped him, one press release stated.

Police received reports later that morning about a lifeless body at Windy Hill Road, which was identified as Mr. Fahie, who had been fatally wounded by gunshot, according to the release. “Detectives of the [Major Crimes Unit] have not given up on the investigation and [are] still hopeful that members of the community may have crucial information to assist in identifying those responsible for this senseless murder to bring some closure to the grieving families,” the press release stated.

Mr. Joseph was gunned down near the CSY Dock early in the morning of April 16, 2017, according to a separate press release.

Police said Mr. Joseph and a woman left an area bar at around 3:30 a.m. and walked over to his car parked by the nearby Water and Sewerage Department.

Shortly after he drove away, witnesses reported hearing “a sundry of gunshots … and the vehicle was seen spinning out of control and crashed into the water-and-sewerage fencing,” the press release stated, adding, “The police and ambulance were summoned and the victim was discovered dead on the scene. The female suffered minimal injuries.”

Anyone with information relating to these crimes is encouraged to contact Detective Inspector Vernon Larocque at 368-9809, or the Major Crimes Investigation Team at 368-5682, the press release stated, adding, “All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.”
