Clevaughn Sweeney and Michael Stevens, then 25 and 26, were driving between Tobacco Wharf and Station Avenue early in the morning on Feb. 10, 2018, when their vehicle came under fire.

The vehicle came to halt near Althea Scatliffe Primary School, and both men were fatally wounded.

The perpetrators of the crime have not been caught, but in a press release issued Friday, the second anniversary of the shooting, police urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.

“Detectives are still hopeful that members of the community may have crucial information that will assist in identifying those responsible for these senseless shootings and to bring some closure to the grieving families,” the press release stated.

In a statement included in the release, Mr. Sweeney’s family pleaded for help.

“Just imagine this was your son, brother, uncle, cousin, even your friend that was taken so viciously,” they said, adding, “You would want justice as well.”

The release also included a similar statement from Mr. Stevens’ family, which noted that he left behind a child.

“Any little information would be greatly appreciated,” the statement said.

Police urge anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact Detective Inspector Vernon Larocque at 368-9809 or the Major Crime Investigation Team at 368-5682, the press release stated.
