A woman was injured during an allegedly unprovoked attack Monday morning outside Bobby’s Supermarket in Road Town, police said.

Officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were on their way to the scene, responding to a report, when they met a male fitting the description of the alleged offender, according to a press release from the Police Information Office.

The suspect, a Virgin Islands man who police described as “homeless,” was immediately arrested and transported to the Road Town Police Station, where he “awaits charges,” the release states.

The woman was allegedly struck in the face, and she was taken by police officers to Peebles Hospital for treatment, according to police.

“Officers will be interviewing and offering support to the victim,” the release states. “The alleged offender remains in custody.”
