Police arrested a Baughers Bay man and seized 24.7 grams of marijuana after a high-speed car chase on Feb. 24 that ended in Sea Cows Bay, they said last Thursday.
Morgan Maduro, 20, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug and committing a reckless and negligent act, according to the Police Information Office.
He was granted $5,000 bail and scheduled to appear before the Magistrates’ Court on April 10.
Police said additional charges for traffic violations are “pending.”
Car chase
The car chase came after officers on patrol in the Lower Estate area observed a “heavily tinted” Suzuki Jimny with its registration plates obscured by a “dark film,” police said.
“When officers signalled the driver to stop, the vehicle sped off, prompting a pursuit,” police said in a statement. “Officers successfully intercepted the vehicle in Sea Cows Bay at Bound Tree Road. A search of both the driver and the vehicle led to the discovery of 24.7 grams of cannabis.”
