The Ministry of Communications and Works will host a procurement workshop for contractors next week to help them compete for contracts under the Caribbean Development Bank loan project.

The workshop, which aims to inform contractors of the government’s and the CDB’s procurement guidelines for competitive bidding, is set for Wednesday at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, according to Government Information Services.

“Under the CDB Infrastructure Rehabilitation Loan there are procurement processes, conditions and guidelines that must be adhered to,” said Dr. Drexel Glasgow, project manager and chief of infrastructure planning research and development. “The objective of the workshop is to inform our local contractors of what is required under the loan project so they will be in a better position to compete for these projects.”

Dr. Glasgow said the workshop will cover procurement procedures and preparing an effective tender document, among other topics.

The workshop is free, and interested contractors can call the ministry at 468-0629 by Monday to register.

The Infrastructure Rehabilitation Loan Project is a joint venture between the government and the CDB to improve infrastructure that was damaged as a result of the impact of Tropical Storm Otto in 2010.
