A professor from a French university is to deliver a public lecture on the need for a “green revolution,” at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

Dr. Jean-Marie Beau, a chemistry professor at the University of Paris Sud at Orsay, will speak on the topic, “Some Key Technologies for Sustainable Development: How We Can Optimise the Use of Plants for a Greener Planet,” according to HLSCC.

As part of the talk, Dr. Beau is to explain how chemical and molecular sciences can create solutions for the rapid increase in demand for food, energy and raw materials caused by the expected growth of the global population.

“What I plan to do is to present only facts and evocative solutions, some of which are already in practice,” he said. “I will introduce these technologies as alternatives to the use of fossil resources.”
