On Friday morning, police asked the public for help finding two vehicles they said had been stolen from M.R. Rentals in Paraquita Bay the previous night.
That evening, they reported that both vehicles had been found and returned.
“The suspects forcefully breached the premises before making off with the vehicles,” police said in a press release issued at 11:43 a.m. on Friday. “An attempt was also made at another rental company in West End, which suggests a broader pattern of criminal activity. Investigators believe these stolen vehicles may be used to commit further crimes and could potentially be fitted with different licence plates to avoid detection.”
Police added that the matter was being treated with urgency, and they asked the public to stay alert and report suspicious activity.
At 7:09 p.m. Friday evening, police issued an update saying that the stolen vehicles had been found and returned to the rental company.
They did not announce any arrests or provide any other information.
They did, however, ask the public to report suspicious activity to their non-emergency line 311 or their Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
Reports can also be made anonymously through the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS).
