Like many places in the territory, ever since the storms and heavy rains last season, Ballast Bay needs roadwork. Unlike some of the other hardest hit areas, however, it’s not included in the $1.9 million contract with BVI Paving slated to be completed by the end of summer.

Instead, it’s likely that particular stretch of road, along with many others, will be included in the works funded by loans the territory is seeking from the Caribbean Development Bank, said Alvin Christopher, representative for the Fifth District and a former minister of communications and works.

In February, when government signed the contracts with BVI Paving, Minister of Communications and Works Julian Fraser said the ministry is seeking approximately $13-15 million in loans from the Caribbean Development Bank as part of $16 million in planned infrastructure projects.
