The Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Mounts Bay returned to the territory this week to assist the Department of Disaster Management with cleanup projects.

Crewmembers are scheduled to work at the DDM building in McNamara on Friday, and to realign the Cane Garden Bay siren, clean debris, and paint buildings at Elmore Stoutt High School on Saturday.

On Sunday, the crew will help to set up DDM’s administrative hub at its new location on DeCastro Street and clear the access road to the central siren at Russell Hill.

The Mounts Bay, an auxiliary landing ship, visited the Virgin Islands in July for a familiarisation visit.

She returned on Sept. 8 following the passing of Hurricane Irma to assist with immediate humanitarian relief, and again two weeks later immediately after Hurricane Maria.
